Woven Jeans PDF Sewing Pattern

To say this pattern was a labor of love would be a huge understatement. There is a lack of size inclusive WOVEN, non-stretch jean’s patterns in the home sewing world and that is a lack that we wanted to help resolve. We spent over a year developing this pattern and hope that you love it as much as we do!

The Kelly Jeans are a slightly relaxed, “boyfriend” style, 5-pocket jeans. They have a tapered leg, oversized pockets, and a tall back yoke. They offer 4 lengths – bermuda, capri, crop, and ankle. They’re made for fabrics with no stretch, but they’ve got enough ease that you can still move, bend, and sit in them comfortably!

Woven jeans are a little more challenging to sew than a lot of our patterns, so I wrote you basically an entire book for instructions. No really, it’s 46 pages. So jump in, you can do it!

This PDF pattern includes:
– Kelly Jeans in sizes 00-40 formatted to print on US letter or A4 paper
– Large format A0 size file for copy shop printing
– A Projector format file
– Layers so you can print just the size you need, no ink wasted!
– Full instructions, including photos and diagrams

This pattern made for woven fabrics and requires a zipper. Stretch woven fabrics with no more than 20% stretch can be used, but knit fabrics are not recommended at all.

The primary strength of this pattern is the excellent fitting instructions. I am an athletic hourglass, with size 14 waist, size 16 hips, and size 22 thighs. Pants are typically a nightmare for me. I was encouraged to see the tall yoke as I felt this would accommodate my butt nicely, even if it made pocket placement weird. I graded between sizes when cutting out my pattern pieces, which lead to a strange looking silhouette. But then I followed Stephanie’s fitting instructions, making sure to trace the fitted pieces back onto the paper pattern after I ripped out the basting. Between those adjustments, and scooping out the lower back rise to accommodate the hang of my behind, I now have the greatest fitting jeans pattern ever. So far I have made the included tapered legs and hacked a wide leg version. I angled my pockets to run parallel to the edge of the yoke, which works well for my particular body shape (it allowed me to easily fit my pronounced waist to butt slope). Because of the fitting process, the first pair did take forever to make, but the second pair was a relatively quick sew. The finished product (which I fitted to 1″ of positive ease around the thigh anticipating that my 14 oz.100% cotton denim would bag out with wear) are getting heavy wear because they look amazing and are super comfortable. This is a great base pattern for extreme hourglass figures (these are so hard to find!!!), and I believe the clarity of the directions and the fitting guidance makes it ideal for other body shapes as well. I highly recommend.

One last note: I love that this pattern includes fitting adjustments and pieces for B-shaped and apron bellies like mine. This pattern feels like a love letter to living bodies in all sizes. I love the inclusivity and positivity of this label.
